My fellow Hoosiers…

At last month’s inauguration of Gov. Mike Pence, the 50th governor of the Hoosier State spoke of hope and determination. He challenged Indiana to be the first in job creation, education and quality of life, and in a time of uncertainty, for our state to serve as an “enduring beacon.”

In his speech, Pence encouraged everyone to improve himself or herself, which in turn, will improve the state.

inauguraladdress“Invest in Indiana with your time and talent,” he said. “Tell Indiana’s story. If you have a job, work at it as never before. If you serve the people, serve with all your heart. If you can build a business, do. If you can start a business, try. If you have a dream, reach for it.”

This message echoed in the hearts of many of us at Master Power Transmission. We came together to center our business on and dramatically improve our customer service. Our performance improved because of our people in Columbus, Ind. – also the boyhood home of Gov. Pence.

In recent years, Indiana has received many accolades for fiscal responsibility and economic development, but Pence said the momentum must not be squandered with complacency.

“With so many families and businesses struggling just to get by, we have no choice but to remain bold, optimistic and relentless in our work until good jobs, great schools, safe streets and strong families become the hallmark of every community in this state,” he said.

Hoosiers are strong of mind, body and heart. In January, the United Way of Bartholomew County announced a new local record of more than $3.8 million in pledges. By next week’s annual meeting, the campaign may top $4 million. Local United Way President Mark Stewart said the organization is seeing a jump in donations from manufacturing firms, of which Master PT is one of the fundraising partners.

“Together, we will build a more prosperous future,” Pence said. “Together, we will open doors of educational opportunity for all our kids. Together, we will approach our third century with confidence. And Indiana will again become a torch of opportunity and hope, inspiring us and our nation.”
